That buddy system is important because it's perfectly legal for attorneys to keep one another informed about what their clients have told Starr's grand jury. Lewinsky's lawyers will want to stay up to date on what Starr has learned from other witnesses before his grand jury. "The fact that we can talk to each other if we need to is good," Cacheris told TIME. That makes it harder for Starr to intimidate Lewinsky with false threats or claims that he knows more than he does about what she and Clinton may have done. Last week Cacheris would...

...Stein, a senior researcher at the Wesley College Center for Research on Women, believes sexual violence and harassment is on the rise in schools, and she says, "It's happening between kids who are dating or want to be dating or used to date." Linda Osmundson, executive director of the Center Against Spouse Abuse in St. Petersburg, Fla., notes that "it seems to be coming down to younger and younger girls who feel that if they don't pair up with these guys, they'll have no position in their lives. Trouble is, when the computer's clock strikes 2000, the math can get screwy. Date-based equations like 98 - 97 = 1 become 00 - 97 = -97. That can prompt some computers to do the wrong thing and stop others from doing anything...

...while taking the stairs may be good for your heart, you won't have to do it for fear the elevator will fall--another dire bit of misinformation making the Y2K rounds. "An elevator doesn't need to know the date to go up and down, so we never put date-sensitive controls in there," says Peter Kowalchuk, a spokesman for Otis Elevator Co. Other major elevator makers have issued similar disclaimers...
