...little unfair. Just as Californians don't actually live on wheat grass and tofu, Southerners don't really sit around eating fried chicken every day. "I've not come across anything that says the diet in the Southeast is worse than the rest of the country," says David Bassett, co-director of the University of Tennessee's Obesity Research Center. "We're definitely in what I like to call the 'Stroke Belt,' " he says, referring to Southeastern states' high percentage of heart disease and hypertension, "but I think that has more to do with Southerners' lack of physical activity rather...

And yet it was not in the Nun study's core data that its director, Dr. David Snowdon, first discovered a fascinating correlation between the sisters' language skills, based on essays they had written in their 20s when they first entered the convent (Snowdon discovered the essays in the convent's archives), and the likelihood that they would develop Alzheimer's later in life. Palin's lawyer threatened to sue. Net result: more publicity and an FBI denial of any investigation. (See pictures of Bristol...

Labour politicians are calling on Conservative leader David Cameron to sack his director of communications and principal spin doctor, Andrew Coulson, who was deputy editor and then editor of the News of the World during the period its journalists were supposedly engaging in the hacking. MP John Whittingdale, the Conservative chair of the Commons culture select committee, said it was "highly likely" that Coulson would be asked to testify in the committee's investigation into whether News of the World executives knew how its journalists were operating. Prime Minister Gordon Brown mentioned...
