...dark year is now over, but automakers don't yet see the dawn. Jim Lentz, president of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., says he expects sales in the first quarter of 2009 to be similar to those in the fourth quarter of 2008 - dreadful. While the outlook remains too uncertain for any consensus to emerge on full-year 2009 sales, carmakers are hoping to see some signs of life this spring. "We could see year-over-year comparisons improve (i.e., not be down so much!) starting in April 2009 because the market really collapsed in April 2008," says Rebecca Lindland...
...last decade, people have attempted to outsmart alcohol with so-called anti-hangover pills such as Chaser and Alcohol-X, which, when taken before a drink, supposedly help the liver by absorbing toxins. In 1997, a South Korean businessman developed Dawn 808 (Dawn stands for Drinkers Are Winners Now), a canned tea-based drink made from alder leaves that claims to accelerate alcohol breakdown...

"I did not know the process has been corrupted. I did not know that credentials and qualifications and a record of service meant nothing," he said. He also asserted that he did not bribe the governor...
...TIME's review of the film confirmed my fears. I take exception, though, to Richard Corliss's apparent condemnation of the source material. I have been reading fantasy and science fiction for more than two decades. Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn) is captivating and original, with an audience that goes far beyond pubescent girls. It would be unfortunate if those who have not yet read the books were discouraged from doing so by a poor movie adaptation. Bree Urban, SEATTLE...
