...Exeter catalogue for 1888-89 has just been published. It contains a good deal of interesting matter, and shows that a liberal advance has been made at Exeter during the past year. But few changes have been made in the board of trustees and in the faculty during the past year. George S. Morrison, of Chicago, was elected last June into the board of trustees, and he is the only man residing in the West, who has received such a distinction. The faculty remains the same in number but has two new members, Messrs. Fowler and Stone, who have filled...

...Tennis Club. This club comprises a large part of the younger population of the town, and as a result the audience was extremely large. The work of the players was very creditable and received its due appreciation. The first piece was "March Past," very difficult on account of its deal of shading; but the club showed a perfect mastery of it which only careful practice could have obtained for them. All efforts on the part of graduates and of undergraduates to save the fence from destruction were of no avail. After the final decision of the faculty, preparations were made by the undergraduates, especially by the senior societies, to tear...

Although Columbia had no 'varsity eleven this fall, a great deal of interest was taken in foot-ball. Class teams were formed, and every day the men went up to the polo grounds to practice. An inter class series of games was arranged, and on November 30th the freshmen defeated the sophomores by a score of 12 to 8. This defeat of '91 was a great surprise to all, and was principally due to the excellent work of the freshmen backs. On the same days the juniors played the seniors, and easily won by a score of 30-0. This...
