...more hurting than healing in House of Sand and Fog, which pits Kingsley's Behrani against Kathy Nicolo (Jennifer Connelly). Both have seen better days. He, a lionhearted military man who has lost his country but not his will to power, clings to his pride and decorum, changing into a suit after his grimy, sweaty workdays on a road-construction crew so that he can go home to his wife and son in white-collar dignity. Connelly plays a recovering alcoholic struggling with depression who makes the critical error of failing to pay her property taxes. He uses his savings...

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, on the other hand, displayed far more decorum and less flesh than Spears in their recent cover photo. This is certainly to their credit, but it skirts the issue of why Michelle Tanner was even on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2003. Did anyone seriously think the Olsens would be the break-out stars of Full House...

Typically, meetings of a group like this are exercises in official decorum, with Cabinet members presenting the President with lists of options and no one speaking out of turn; White House officials say that on Wednesday the Oval Office was a swirl of activity. Chairs were dragged in from the hallway; the President's advisers leaned over one another and volunteered their assessments as more raw intelligence reports flowed in. Bush asked whether the weather might impede an attack on Saddam, how quickly U.S. forces could carry out the mission and how an early strike could affect the rest...
