Last year, Exeter shut out the 1918 nine 3 to 0, weak hitting being responsible for this defeat. The stick-work of this year's Freshman nine has been improving steadily and rapidly, as is proved by the result of the recent victory over Milton. The Freshmen will line up as follows: McLeod, 2b.; Casey, c.f.; Bond, r.f.; Fuller, c.; Gross, l.f.; Sears, 1b.; Kerr, s.s.; Burrill, 3b.; Felton...
...University tennis team will play Princeton, at Divinity Field, this afternoon, at 1.30 o'clock. Last year's match with Princeton, at Princeton, after two postponements, resulted in the defeat of the University by the score of 7 to 2. The Tigers took all three of the doubles matches and four of the singles...
Last year the University broke even with the Rhode Island team, receiving a 7 to 3 defeat in Cambridge, and two days later beating Brown 11 to 10 in a hitting festival on the loser's home field. Brown, however, is believed to have a much less powerful nine this spring. Seven games have been won and only three lost, but Brown's pitching staff is admittedly weaker than in 1915, and only three veterans remain in the line-up: Murray, G. F. Johnston, and Ormsby. Healy is the most reliable pitcher, and will probably be in the box today...
...Freshman track team lost to Phillips Exeter Academy 63 to 45, Saturday afternoon. The defeat came as a surprise, for the Freshman team had beaten Andover easily last week and appeared to have strength where Exeter was weakest. Several upsets, however, occurred which robbed the 1919 team of many points. Remarkable performances were registered in the 880-yard and one-mile runs and the broad and high jumps. The Freshman athletes took all three places in the hammer-throw, while H. C. Flower, Jr., '19 broke the Freshman record for the broad-jump by 4 inches...
...first ranking, although it is, on the other hand, superior to the majority of teams with which the University has played early-season contests. It has, thus far in its schedule, split honors with Yale, and tied with the strong and fast Columbia team. But it has suffered defeat at the hands of the Annapolis Midshipmen whom the University beat, and at the hands of Villanova, a team which lost to Princeton in the latter college's first game of the season...
