...other by the Baseball Team at Ithaca-were more satisfactory and encouraging than any that the CRIMSON has been able to record for a long time. In both the Harvard representatives outclassed strong opponents. These victories, coming directly after the winning of the shooting match with Princeton and the defeat of the Yale freshmen in debate, stirred up something like the old student enthusiasm and made a fitting climax to a very successful week. The victory over Cornell in baseball was most encouraging, coming as it did at a time when the confidence in the team was somewhat shaken...
...wish the Freshmen success in their debate with Yale this evening. This debate with Yale is the most important contest of the year for Ninety-nine. A victory in baseball or even a victory in beating at Poughkeepsie will not bring so much credit to the class as the defeat of the Yale freshmen tonight. A recent change in the make-up of the team has proved most beneficial, but better batting and team work are needed if the first Princeton game, May 16, is to be won. The freshman nine is in fairly good form and easily defeated Princeton '99 on Saturday...
...Saturday last the College Nine received another defeat at the hands of St. Mark's School. The men were unprepared to find such a strong team and were unable to hit White, the St. Mark's pitcher, effectively. He struck out a number of men and played steadily at critical points. Arnold on the other hand, for Harvard went to pieces at the end of the ninth inning, gave three successive bases on balls, and thereby forced in the winning...
