Although formidable in almost every branch of track and field, the Blue's greatest strength lies in the middle distance runs, a fact that accounts for the speed of her relay teams, which have already been able to defeat both the University and Freshman quartets during the winter season. In the sprints the Eli's most consistent performer is Feldman, who as a Sophomore last year lost to Gourdin in the dual meet, but defeated him in the Intercollegiate. Middlebury College opened their season Monday with a defeat at the hands of Boston College, 14-0; Tufts also proved more than a match, winning yesterday, 25-2, in a five-inning game. Houlihan, the Vermont team's star hurler will start against the Crimson today. Although driven from the box on Monday under a hot fusillade of hits, Houlihan, won a reputation last season by his strike-outs and may possibly get back in his old-time form today. This afternoon's game will be the third of six which the Middlebury team is playing on its trip through...
Knocking two pitchers out of the box and scoring six runs on the third twirler the University baseball team swept the Northeastern nine to a 16-1 defeat on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The Crimson mound work, however, was not on a par with the hitting and in the second inning it looked as if the visitors would furnish a serious threat...
...first practice game with an outside team yesterday afternoon, the University nine sent the Old Colony Trust Company players to an 8-0 defeat. The Crimson batters opened the scoring in the first inning with two runs and found little difficulty in staging a rally in the fourth. Reliable work in the pitcher's box and an almost perfect infield combination prevented any of the visiting runners from getting beyond third base. The Old Colony team also exhibited some expert fielding and in the second inning completed a triple play quickly ending the scoring which the Crimson nine had begun...
