Littlejohn's marker, a neat little flip just four minutes into the game, proved to be all that Yale needed, as tough defense on both sides turned the contest into a referee's delight--not much penetration in either direction. The Crimson managed to aim nine shots at the visitor's cage, but only three met with goalie Martha Finney's stick, and none got further...

Indeed, for a former actor, Reagan shows a narrow range of emotion of any sort. He rarely displays genuine delight or anger, a reserve that has served him well during the campaign. He has replied to Jimmy Carter's attacks with a kind of puzzled hurt that has been far more effective than rage. Reagan's substitute for strong emotion seems to be humor, both memorized and spontaneous. He is a walking repertory theater of show-biz anecdotes, one-liners, elaborate routines (interestingly, he almost never tells a political anecdote). On the campaign plane, Nancy Reagan has made...

...analysis. Some experts thought that it was too light for platinum and might be sterling silver. But after 15 more ingots were recovered last month, the discovery touched off shock waves almost as strong as those of the original battle. The find started a gold rush-to the delight of Sadami Umeno, mayor of Tsushima's isolated principal town of Kamitsushima (pop. 7,300). "We would like to have a hospital and a 3,000-ton ferryboat," said the mayor, suggesting that the treasure hunt entitled the island to some benefits it was previously promised. "We might even have...

...meets-New York City material of Alive on Arrival., As I watch Forbert rehearse his road band, that innocence sparks again. Every time they run through Arrival's "Goin' Down to Laurel," the singer breaks into an exuberant, cowboy-booted shuffle. Music, including his own, is Forbert's obvious delight. A Meridian, Mississippi guitar teacher recalled him as "... an average player, but all fired up." In 1976, Forbert left home and a truck driving job to play Greenwich village coffeehouses...

Though he manifestly prefers to write such hair-raisers, Bradbury is as entertaining on the sunny side of the street as he is in the land of perpetual twilight. One of his stories shares the delight of a poor Chicano who finds his life magically transformed by the purchase of a white suit. In the hilarious Anthem Sprinters, some rollicking Irishmen make a contest out of their penchant for bolting out of a movie theater before the playing of the national anthem at the end of a show. The Picasso Summer acutely satirizes the dilemma of an art lover. Strolling...
