...Crimson men’s swimming and diving team made a statement of its own in defeating league foe Columbia, 195-105. Harvard now heads into the Thanksgiving holiday with a perfect 3-0 record. Last week, the Crimson snagged league victories over Cornell and Dartmouth by using its depth. Harvard won fewer events than the Big Red, but it managed to gain the edge in points by grabbing several second and third places. This weekend, however, the Crimson swimmers touched the wall first in 12 of 16 races, allowing Harvard to cruise to an easy victory over the Lions...

...short of theatrical. Sadly, all the important issues following this melodrama lost their poignancy. From the troop buildup in Iraq to energy issues, the candidate with the best response was the simply one with the most charisma. From the candidates’ namedropping to their masturbatory rants about the depth and breadth of their political experience, there was a deep lack of authenticity. It's got power and depth, and two kings whose greatness is diluted by hubris, and a thrilling dragon fight, and the demon Grendel as a tortured outcast, and a naked monster who looks a lot like Angelina Jolie. In their use of "performance capture," a technique that fans of traditional animation view with the sternest skepticism, the film's makers have managed to show more acute behavioral emotion, as well as some fantastic images uncapturable in live action. Yeah, that deep. And since we’re in a math mood, let’s have a few more numbers. With last week’s win over Penn, the Crimson is the first team in Ivy League history to win seven games in seven straight years. Harvard head...

...pawn. The special effects don’t go overboard, and the film has an excellent soundtrack, but it never develops any real moments of emotion. Granted, Kelly may be attempting to parody the surrealist tradition and even the frightening idea of an apocalypse, but the film lacks real depth, even in its short-lived romantic subplots. By the end, it’s easy to feel tired and harried by the explosions, Christian imagery, and garish costumes. It’s much easier to sit back and have the film happen to you, instead of trying to piece together...
