Today everybody knows about Diesel engines. They are everywhere-on streamlined trains, long-distance trucks, planes, ships, submarines. The fire-fated German dirigible Hindenburg was Diesel-powered; so was the big snow cruiser that Admiral Byrd shipped to Antarctica. But in the U.
