The pamphlet contained a number of national statistics about assaults by “male fraternity members” that were never justifiably or directly linked to any events at Harvard’s final clubs. It refused to recognize that final clubs differ greatly amongst themselves and tried instead to straitjacket all of the clubs into the stereotype of abusive, dangerous institutions. For example, the RUS never properly explained how the Porcellian Club could attack women when it refuses to admit non-members (and, by implication, all females) beyond its foyer. ...reasons for the shortages differ for each vaccine. For example, the DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis) vaccine got hit by a double whammy. One of its major producers, then called Wyeth Lederle Vaccines, left the market just as new rules to cut down the mercury in the vaccine began to take effect. Aventis, another major DTaP producer, was caught off guard and had trouble overhauling its manufacturing process while simultaneously ramping up production. Making vaccines isn't a particularly profitable business, so there isn't a lot of competition for the work...

States are also looking at their statutes of limitation for sex-abuse claims, which differ widely. A few, such as Florida, can pursue criminal charges in most cases, but some states don't allow prosecution more than one or five or 10 years after an injured child turns 18. That has freed most predator priests from criminal convictions and long jail terms. But neither side felt it won a resounding victory when the suit filed by a plaintiff against Denver's highly popular Rev. Marshall Gourley was thrown out because the statute of limitation had expired. Gourley maintains his innocence...
