CAFFEINE HIGH If inflation really began to wake up last week, it must have been the smell of Starbucks coffee. Because the country's costliest cup of coffee just got costlier. The company upped prices on everything from decaf lattes to frappuccinos by a dime--7% to 8%. Prices for beans won't change. Starbucks cites rising real estate and labor costs. But with coffee beans trading at their cheapest in two years, at just over $1 per lb., a $1.25 cup of joe may be a bit harder to swallow...

...will never give one dime more than I owe to this University. Many of my friends say they'll donate to Harvard but specify that it go to financial aid. But isn't it clear that Harvard would just rearrange funds so the money will go to feed the Harvard machine? JOE SUBOTNIK...

SNAP, CRACKLE, PAY Following Kellogg and Quaker Oats, General Mills just raised cereal prices 2.5%, adding a nickel or dime to boxes of Wheaties and Cheerios. It's a risky move for the industry, what with low grain prices, inflation nonexistent and cereal selling for about $2.85 a box. In the past few years, consumers and investors have punished Kellogg for raising prices; it reported a 30% slide in earnings last week, and its CEO was eased out this year for the poor performance...
