...Harvard Association of Western New York gave their annual dinner last Saturday evening in Buffalo. President Eliot, who had been a guest of the Chicago Harvard Club on the 9th, and who was then on his way to Washington, was present and spoke. Referring to college athletics, President Eliot said he approved of intercollegiate contests within reasonable limits, but he would like to see the number of matches restricted and freshman matches done away with. ...York Alumni Association of the Phillips Exeter Academy held their sixth annual dinner at the Hoffman House, Wednesday evening. Not only was the banquet productive of important results socially, but various measures for furthering the interests of the academy were discussed at length. Steps were taken toward the building of a chemical laboratory, and resolutions were made informally to increase the number of scholarships and to improve the library.
