Unfortunately, sheer visual zip is not enough to carry the film; it drags from one scuffle to the next. Deborah Van Valkenburgh, as the love interest of the Warriors' War Chief (Michael Beck), provides a few libidinous moments; a lesbian disco dance scene has its peculiar charms. But The Warriors is not lively enough to be cheap fun or thoughtful enough to be serious. ...drag. It's the thing that everyone waits for, and like the Orange Bowl halftime show, it gets more outrageous every year. "Immoral Code" starts out as harem burlesque, eases into "shake your baubels" Mediterranean disco, and before the night is over, we get the mombo, conga, meringue, and of course, the remedial can-can. The transitions are fast, a credit to the show's skilled choreography, and the dancers are fully aware that they are playing drag, not house...

"Theme" grates along for over nine minutes, with Lydon repeatedly wailing in a disembodied voice "I wish I could die" over a ponderous bass line. At the coda, Lydon intones "terminal boredom," an apparent gloss to the song. "Fodderstomf" features a disco bass line and the refrain "We only wanted to be loved" chanted in a sort of Monty Python falsetto.
