...going away. At either five or six a.m., depending on local whim, they bugle their first notes of hail to the new morning. They do this in pairs, generally consisting of one accomplished bugler and one tyro. They then proceed, for precisely an hour, to bugle a nicely calculated discord with the tyro burbling and burping perhaps half a beat behind the master bugler.
