Harvard will play four teams on the trip, including No. 13 Pepperdine, before returning to dismal Massachusetts on April 13 for the Crimson's Ivy League home opener against Pennsylvania and Princeton...

Late last year, J.K. Rowling distressed zillions of readers by announcing that the fifth novel in her Harry Potter saga would not appear in 2001. The author sweetened this dismal news, at least a little, by promising to make available two books regularly read by students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Quidditch Through the Ages (Scholastic; 56 pages; $3.99) by Kennilworthy Whisp, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Scholastic; 42 pages; $3.99) by Newt Scamander...

...dismal economics were not enough to scare off would-be radiologists, "failure to diagnose breast cancer" has become the profession's No. 1 malpractice expense. Mammograms, by their very nature, miss 10% to 15% of all breast cancers. That means that even the best radiologists won't spot one cancer for every nine they detect. (Adopting more advanced techniques like magnetic resonance imaging doesn't solve the problem. MRI scans are far more expensive than mammograms, take three times as long and are much more labor intensive...
