...otherwise fairly dismal season for new shows, the WB's Felicity, which debuts at 9 p.m. E.T. on Sept. 29, is the one that stands out and has been preceded by the most hype. It's a drama about a college freshman, played with glowing naturalness by Keri Russell, who has impulsively chucked aside the plans her parents made for her in order to follow a boy she hardly knows to New York City. Anybody who has ever fallen in love with a stranger and wondered what might have happened if the infatuation had been acted on will find Felicity...

...that Eleanor first met Governor Clinton of Arkansas, who was helping the doomed Democratic candidate in any way he could. They struck up a friendship that, Mondale says, lasts to this day. Meantime, her work situation was still pretty dismal -- although the Mondale name now had added cachet, helping land her guest spots in "Dynasty" and "Three's Company." MIT's Paul Krugman wrote in FORTUNE that such an admittedly desperate "Plan B" could be Asia's only way out, and when he learned Mahathir had apparently followed his advice, Krugman even wrote an open letter to the prime minister advising him of the many sinkholes along the path ahead...

...plot is complicated and topsy-turvy, so to spare those who have not yet seen the movies, here is a quick rundown: beautiful Mary Jensen (Cameron Diaz) just cannot get away from stalkers. However, when Ted Stromman (Ben Stiller) wants to track her down 13 years after their dismal senior prom date, he is doing so because he still carries a torch for her, not from an unhealthy obsession. Add to the mixture pseudo private eye Matt Healy (the wonderful Matt Dillon who nearly steals the movie), the bizarre Dom (Chris Elliott) and a slew of other comedic characters...

...informed that the 8-hour, largely free-response exam was a requirement for certification only a few weeks before they had to sit for it. Little information was given as to the structure of the exam, and no practice tests were released. Three weeks after the announcement of the dismal test scores, the Board of Education has only just informed the students, the only people directly involved with the test, of their scores. The board has failed to release a copy of the test so that we may see how hard this competency exam was. It has also failed...
