Clinton's faith has occasionally been on display during the past year. He mentioned God occasionally in his campaign speeches and, whether in his Inaugural Address or at a prayer breakfast in Washington two months ago, has displayed his knowledge of Scripture. He shed a very public tear at the ceremony at Washington's A.M.E. Metropolitan Church on Inauguration morning while listening to a live performance of In the Presence of Jehovah...

When Eisenhower isn't scrambling for pennies, it's pinching them. Rather than replace 20 aging microscopes, the school is investigating the purchase of a TV camera and monitor system that could display to an entire class the images seen through a single new microscope. In the home economics classes -- where half the enrollees are boys -- gas stoves have replaced the old electric ones, to take advantage of a local gas company's offer to give the school three stoves free if it purchased one. MacKinnon's published writings reflect a venomous hatred for men as a class, stereotyping all men as rapists, and display contempt for heterosexuals in general. Wild animadversions such as "marital sex is sexual harassment is rape" and "heterosexuality is the eroticization of dominance and submission" full her speech and writings. (Ironically, MacKinnon herself recently married a feminist man, demonstrating that even she doesn't believe her absurd claims about marriage being rape.) MacKinnon asserts that nearly all heterosexual sex is rape, questioning even "whether consent is a meaningful concept." MacKinnon believes that sex constitutes rape if a woman who consented...

...Boutros-Ghali eventually endorsed the plan, but some members of the Security Council continued to fret privately about the wisdom of the airlift. European allies suspected Clinton's initiative might have resulted from the need to be seen as doing something more active -- a public relations ploy designed to display American leadership. But the airlift also signaled a degree of U.S. engagement that the Europeans have encouraged...
