...Dodecanesian Islands are situated on the western coast of Asia Minor, and although the population is almost entirely Greek, formerly belonged to Turkey. In the Turko-Italian war of 1912, they were seized by Italy, and in spite of frequent protests by the inhabitants, have remained in the possession of that country ever since. The name Dodecanesian, meaning 12 islands, does not appear on any map, for the term has only recently come to be applied to this group of islands...
