Dean W. B. Donham of the College of Business Administration spoke briefly on the functions of a modern business school. He laid especial emphasis upon the need of scientific research and high professional ethics in the business world of the future. Mr. J. E. Harley, chairman of the Executive Council of the Society and toastmaster of the evening, called upon one of the guests, Dean Fenn of the Harvard Divinity school, for a few remarks. After his graduation from College Mr. Donham entered the Law School and received his degree in 1901, whereupon he entered the legal department of the Old Colony Trust Company. He has been for many years the vice-president of the company, and he is now director in several other large concerns, including the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, the Clinchfield Coal Company, the Haverhill Gaslight Company, and the Raymond and Whitcomb Company.
