This is not to say that the College should not support the UC. Like many student clubs, the UC can charge students who wish to be active members of the UC. The UC can even encourage students to pay the fee by means of e-mails, door-to-door visits, letters, and posters. However, an optional fee is only optional if students are aware of their options.
