First, as to why we have so much hot dope on Russia inside the magazine: The reason for this is that ten days ago we called out one of our special correspondents in Germany and got him safely across the frontier into neutral country, from which he could send us the uncensored truth. In the most important race of the regatta, for the Darcy Memorial Cup, given this year for the first time, Phil Wilson upset the dope by edging George Hurd, the favorite by a quarter length over the mile course. Harry Hammond took the Junior singles title for the three quarters, and Benny Hubbard upset the dope again by shading last year's 155-pound favorite, Beanie Gilchrist, in the lightweight division Hughes Call won the Nevice singles...

Prinie and Donahue were double winners here as expected, but the performance which proved the most spectacular upset and pleased the Crimson above all dope sheet predictions for the first time during the afternoon was Bob Houghton's triumphant 4:29.6 mile run.
