...read Klein's assessment of Edwards with amazement. It was naive, to say the least. Edwards is without a doubt the most phony-baloney candidate out there, Democrat or Republican. He is the model of political self-interest. Edwards has been carefully grooming himself for political glory ever since he finished milking the health-care industry for every cent he could as a trial lawyer specializing in personal-injury litigation. His baby kissing and do-gooder track record clearly indicate he's an ego-driven man purely in it for himself and will do whatever is politically expedient to achieve...

...WITHOUT IRAQI COOPERATION, EVEN 300 INSPECTORS CAN'T DO THE JOB. That's correct, no doubt. But it's up to the inspectors to say so. I'm betting that we can get Iraq to cooperate more. If I'm wrong, there will still be time to draw other conclusions. When a regime like Saddam's finds itself caught between certain death and abandoning its arms, I think it will make the right choice. ...windows, new heating and cooling units, solar panels on the roof. (The anti-Gore crowd zinged him recently because his electricity bill last August was 10 times the local average. The Gores pay extra to get 100% of their power from renewable sources, and their zealous retrofitting will no doubt bring their costs down. But it stung.) A new addition has a slate-floor family room (with a pool table and a flat-panel TV; Tipper's drum set and some nice acoustic guitars are nearby) and a gym and an office suite upstairs; there...
