...tank is not only desirable but necessary, While Yale is thus showing energy and enterprise in boating matters, Harvard, in marked contrast, is apparently doing nothing to advance her interests in this branch of athletics. The defeat of last year has proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that under present conditions Harvard's chances of winning are practically worthless. If we would compete with Yale on equal footing we must have a rowing tank...
Because the defeat of our eleven at the hands of the Princeton team was unexpected, it is by no means a discouraging one. For, while our team was clearly outplayed, there is not the slightest doubt that if the conditions had been more favorable, and the team had played as strongly as it has at times this fall, it would have given Princeton even a closer rub than it did. The twelve points by which we were beaten does not indicate how stubborn and close the contest was. The Harvard team played an up-hill game from the start...
...Princeton last Saturday, but a sincere belief that the steady training which our team had undergone since the beginning of the year would bring them out ahead. This will increase the cost of the tank considerably, since in the new gymnasium many of the necessary arrangements are already perfected. It is not yet determined...
...vote of the Committee on the regulation of Athletics forbidding the Yale-Harvard game to be played at New York will doubtless cause many men in the college disappointment and even serious inconvenience. Nevertheless we cannot doubt that the action of the committee is for the best interests of Harvard athletics There are many things that make it desirable for the game to be played in New York; at the same time there are very serious objections to the plan. The question is a hard one to decide, and doubtless many men will question whether the Athletic Committee has taken...
