...committee recommend that the boat club exercise a little more discretion in their expenditures, limiting them to the money which is actually subscribed. This is the proper attitude without doubt, although the advantages of a launch are so great that the college ought not to fail in giving the requisite means for its running expenses. The gift of the base-ball management, on condition of the raising of the remaining $800, is indeed a great help, and, although removed for some days, it will be news to most of the students, who supposed that the Boat Club was, indeed...
...passes now, in which more or less fault is not found with the bathing facilities in the gymnasium. There is no doubt that the apparatus is inadequate for the uses of so many men as now regularly exercise during the afternoons, but, as reported in another column, some radical changes will be made during the coming summer. Still, what will be done next year, does not aid us much just now. It seems to show shameful negligence somewhere, that everyday the hot water gives out in the shower bath-room and the agonies of an icy cold ducking have...
...just beginning to row eights, sent out their first last year, and will be a worthy opponent. Then comes the time for Cornell's first appearance at New London. Columbia would undoubtedly be glad to meet us, and this would bring us prominently into the field. We should without doubt have to devote ourselves to Columbia until we downed her. Then would we be ready for the blue and crimson. And that time depends as much upon you as upon the crew. Training will be very half-hearted if the men think the students do not take sufficient interest...

There can be no doubt that this would be an excellent plan for improving the average riding of the club, just as competition with other and better nines improves the playing of our nine. The only objection is that the spring race occurs near the time of the Mott Haven sports, and the best riders may be away at New York. Still it is unlikely that more...
...granted without great expense, and surely with great justice. The showerbath arrangement in the gymnasium is totally inadequate for the large number of students who desire to use it. The room is too small in the first place; in the second there is always good reason to doubt the ability of the faucets to produce anything but ice-cold or boiling hot water, and frequently one of these is taken from us. It is really a great shame that the condition of affairs in the bathing-room is so bad. If anyone who has any influence which could remedy this...
