Saturday dawned raw and cloudy, and by mid-morning a steady rain had begun to fall. Game time had been delayed from 1:35 to 2:15 p.m. to accomodate television, but by noon some 30,000 fans were milling in and around the stadium, braving the downpour. ...Great Heat Wave and Drought of 1980 abated slightly last week. Brief but welcome rain, ranging from a trace to a downpour, fell over the U.S. But the rains never came to central Texas, and for the past month, virtually no rain has fallen there, or in most of Oklahoma and parts of Arkansas and New Mexico.
