Loretta Young always has a sad look in her eyes, and in this picture it is somehow more effective when she is being rushed by a dozen caballeroes than when she has lost her husband. Altogether her presence and her hearing and her acting are highly pleasing. Don Ameche and Kent Taylor are certainly good enough, and that extremely physical Katherine de Mille loses to Loretta with as dour a sulleness as she did in "The Crusades". Its charms being thus threefold, the picture is a good investment...

...this spring, when Father Schulte traveled to the U. S. on the Hindenburg and thereupon with papal permission celebrated the world's first aerial Mass (TIME. May 18), MIVA had acquired a dozen planes, more than 150 automobiles and motorboats which now ply among mission stations in Albania, Lettland, East, West and South Africa, Madagascar, Korea, New Guinea, Brazil and the Solomon Islands. Fire completely destroyed Bandon (pop. 1,500), burned parts of De Poe Bay and Myrtle Point, menaced a half-dozen other small communities and 400,000 acres of timber, including some of the famed redwoods of Northern California. In Bandon, where practically all buildings were razed, a dozen bodies were recovered. One man was killed clearing wreckage, some 30 others were missing. Of the 5,000 firefighters in the woods...

He duplicated a feat accomplished only once before in a World Series when, in the third inning, he made a home run with the bases full. Later, he shared with...

S. authority on the subject. Last spring he promoted the idea of a second professional league, which got quick backing. Burly, pipe-smoking Dr. March is currently its president. Most remarkable...
