In preparation for the summit, which ended in early November and featured a whopping 42 heads of state, authorities ordered half a million official cars off the roads and said 400,000 other drivers had "volunteered" not to use their vehicles. The measures worked--for a short time. The air-pollution index fell to a normal level on the last day of the meeting. Within days, however, the smog shot...

...city's experience during the recent China-Africa Summit is anything to go by, drastic measures may be required to clean up Beijing's air in time for the Olympics in August 2008. During that summit, which featured 42 heads of state, the authorities ordered half a million official cars off the roads and said another 400,000 drivers had "volunteered" to refrain from using their vehicles. Whatever motivation is best, follow through...

...destroyed the environment. Looking past all the different ways companies all over Asia have caused different kinds of pollution, I think all individuals living in Asia have also given their fair share of damage to the environment. I think that saving the environment is not only limited to making drastic clean-up methods or reducing the waste materials caused by excessive production. Saving the environment should originate from a change in perspective of how all of us view ourselves in relation to the environment. Unless we still believe that we are in control of the environment at the expense...
