Died. Thomas B. Slick, 47, famed oil wildcatter, "richest independent operator in the world"; of a cerebral hemorrhage, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore where he had been since June 27. Born in Clarion, Pa., he went in 1906 to the Indian Territory, after serving apprentice- ship as driller, muleskinner, roustabout in the oilfields of Illinois. In 1913 he sold out his holdings in Illinois for $2,500,000; last year his Southwestern holdings brought him $45,000,000 from Prairie Oil & Gas.
