...University squad, but in spite of the handicap, is well up with Smith, although not quite so reliable in breaking up a well protected end run. Still he is a consistent player, and uses his weight to great advantage. So far this season he has scored nine points by drop-kicks and it is his skill in this department of the game that adds materially to his value. In the same way Felton's punting has been the best seen on the squad this year and showed up particularly well in the Dartmouth game against as able a punter...
...Haven, Conn., Nov. 17, 1910.--This afternoon the Yale undergraduates marched to Yale Field to see the team in its last practice before the Harvard game on Saturday. Practice was very light and consisted mainly of signal drill and punting. Much time was also given to drop-kicking. Baker, who has been substitute for Captain Daly, wrenched his knee badly and will probably be unable to play on Saturday. In the signal practice, attention was given to team work, there being no individual coaching. Following this the Yale team held open practice. At 4 o'clock the squad and coaches returned to Farmington by special car, arriving at the Elm Tree Inn for dinner...

In the next two plays, Philbin and Pfeiffer advanced the ball 15 yards, and then after two unsuccessful rushes, Philbin dropped back and kicked a field-goal from the 30-yard line. During the remainder of the period Wauseka and Philbin engaged in a punting duel, in which the latter had a slight advantage, due principally to the effective work of the ends. In the second period, Philbin and Pfeiffer rushed...
...preliminary practice consisted chiefly of punting and drop-kicking. Corbett, Felton, Minot, Pierce and Tryon did most of the punting under the direction of R. P. Kernan '03, while T. Frothingham, Lewis, O'Flaherty and Wigglesworth spent some time kicking drops at various distances and angles. The line-men were given individual instruction by coach Withington; coach Leary took charge of the ends, and coach Cutting paid special attention to the backs...
