...Good Enough." For "Do What You Have to Do," McLachlan was joined onstage by the Barenaked Ladies' guitarist who played the bass for the song. McLachlan closed with hit "Sweet Surrender," and then returned to play the quirky, yet endearing song, "Ice Cream." For the latter, the band's drummer--who is also her husband--joined her at the front of the stage with two small drums. Unlike during this summer's Lillith Fair, McLachlan did not break the hearts of her male fans by revealing their true relationship...

Gomez's protagonists, a young rock band called Bottlecap, are a lot like him. Mark, the singer and guitarist, bassist Gary and drummer Steve start off writing and practicing songs in a shack on the out-skirts of their hometown of Kitty, Virginia. They play their first gigs to tiny crowds in the little bars in Kitty and surrounding areas and slowly build up the slight recognition that could be mislabeled as a following. Just before the beginning of Geniuses of Crack, Mark is approached by an A&R man from a new, alternative record company that wants to sign...

Despite his lack of chops, Ross supported...

Having a substitute drummer didn't at all detract from the performance the band gave: guitarist Todd Mund evoked a sonic spectrum ranging from airy melody lines to bone-crunching chords with his red Les Paul; bassist Nedich aggressively propelled many of the tunes with unrelentingly rhythmic bass lines; and Deal leavened the raw power of her vocals with sensitivity. Her muscular voice never strained, and she displayed impressive range and intonation. At times she could be sweet and velvety.
