They then started at the point with the University crew and raced over the first half of the four mile course, winning by one quarter of a length in slow time, due to the head wind and rough water. Robert Clifford Watson of the class of 1869 died at his home in Milton early on Sunday morning, June 1. He was fifty-four years old. His death was due to a stroke of paralysis the result of a strain incurred two years ago. While in college Mr. Watson rowed on the '67 and '68 University crews which beat Yale; after graduation he was several times University coach and throughout his life kept up his interest in rowing...
