...first Newell suffered a severe loss, when Brownell was taken from stroke to row on the University squad. With the change at stroke it took a decided slump, due more to loss of confidence than to any particular fault with Boardman who was put in Brownell's place...

...Freshman nine defeated Groton last Saturday by the score of 6 to 2. The Groton team was weak, particularly at the bat. The base running of the Freshmen was very poor, and the fact that they did not make a larger score was largely due to their inefficiency in this respect and to their inability to bunch their hits...

...University crews took a short brisk row on Saturday, and in the few brushes between them neither crew gained materially, although the first sometimes rowed a higher stroke than the second. This poor showing on the part of the first is doubtlessly due to the frequent changes which have recently taken place in that boat. Yale was second with 195, Princeton third with 178, and the University of Pennsylvania fourth with 154. Harvard's excellent showing was due to the steady shooting and consistent practice of the team throughout the season. P. Bancroft '03, with E. E. du Pont '03 a close second, won the trophy cup for the best individual score. Cups were also given to each member of the winning team; and the intercollegiate cup, which...
