...dead in his plane which he had guided to a perfect landing.* The material is still open for treatment as nothing much is done with it in this picture. Instead of using what is really known about Richthofen: his innate love of the chase, his early cavalry training, his duel with the English ace, Major Lanoe G. Hawker, whose plane he brought down after a fierce, magnificent combat, the producers waste three-quarters of the film telling a poppycock love story about one of his friends. Most of the photography is poor. One of the rare good shots: newsreel...
...those who thought the brutal, ancient German university custom of dueling had died there came a shock last week. In William Randolph Hearst's Cosmopolitan. Frazier Hunt, onetime War correspondent & Mexican sugar planter, wrote that at Berlin "only the other day" he had witnessed two German students fight, not a Schlägermensur or sport duel, wherein undergraduates belabor one another with large, blunt broadswords, but a secret, illegal Säbelmensur, oldtime insult duel, with sharp sabres...

All in a world of their...

Molnar then wrote Heavenly and Earthly Love for a more beautiful woman, Lili Darvas, who, starring in it, became a famed actress also. Enraged, Actress Fedak responded by getting Melchior Lengyel, Hungary's second greatest playwright, to write a play with a role in which she could and did show herself superior to Actress Darvas. Outraged, Molnar wrote Mima and The Glass Slipper, both for Actress Darvas. Upshot: a divorce (Molnar v. Fedak) in which Lili Darvas figured...
Campolo. Perhaps the most interested spectator of the Schmeling-Uzcudun duel will be one Victorio Maria Campolo who last week arrived with friends in the U. S. from the Argentine. He stands 6 ft., 6½ in.; weighs 225 Ib.; scorns everybody's boxing ability but his own. Of his countryman Luis Firpo he said last week: "He is fat, he is disgusting, he weighs 275 pounds and looks like a wine barrel. But he intended coming to New York last spring anyway. He will not now because I am here...
