...flung operation can be messy. On a recent morning in midtown Kansas City, Obama's local headquarters was bustling. A team of about 15 staffers, paid and volunteer, hunched over laptops and cradled cell phones in a bare space provisioned with bags of Lays potato chips and Dum Dums. A pair of disposable chopsticks and a Chinese takeout container peeked from a trashcan, testament to someone's late night. A steady stream of supporters trooped through the door, eager for yard signs...

A large majority of these songs are extremely enjoyable, so it’s hard to imagine this outing as an EP, which would have meant cutting tracks like “Indivisble” and its infectious “dum-dum” chorus or the ironically joyous “La Fin Du Monde.” In a genre where critics rarely believe that more is better, the Dirtbombs have produced a remarkable achievement. —Reviewer Jeff W. The performances are appropriately complemented by a quirky choice of score, vibrant hair and makeup, and fantastic costuming designed by Casey M. Lurtz ’07. For example, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee (Rugani and Jennifer L. Brown ’07) tell Alice the story of the Walrus and the Carpenter using illustrations on their skirts. Acting and costuming thus combine for a re-imagining of each character that is extraordinarily successful. It does, however, fall short...
