...even if slothful mainstream media outlets cannot take up the task of challenging Fox, the burden of delegitimizing it shouldn’t fall on the executive branch. Recently, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn made clear just how concerned the White House is in her indictment of Fox as “a wing of the Republican Party.” That slip reveals that the White House is in fact concerned with the lies surrounding the national discourse—concerned enough to attack it in an official public-relations capacity...

...general in this war is Dunn, 51, a veteran campaign strategist who arrived at the White House in May. She has been a force in Democratic campaigns since the late 1980s and helmed Obama's rapid-response operation during his run. At the White House, she has become a devoted consumer of conservative-media reports and a fierce critic of Fox News, leading the Administration's effort to block officials, including Obama, from appearing on the network. ...Please don't judge Judy. The whole Witwicky family speaks at warp speed, so it is a challenge to make out all that they say (LaBeouf in particular is like John Cusack on amphetamines), but Judy and her husband Ron (Kevin Dunn) are the movie's main sources of comic relief. Or maybe my affection for them had deeper psychological roots. Maybe I saw them as my allies. The movie is like the play date from hell, the kind where a crew of children reduce your home to rubble and conduct endless bouts of loud war on the living-room...
