...Some undergraduates do not agree with the University's investment policy, and thus do not feel morally right in donating money directly to Harvard. The Endowment for Divestiture allows those students to give money to Harvard without supporting its investment policy. By allowing E4D to use our office and by having mutual officers, we insure its perpetuation into the new academic years. Therefore, the Council provides a service to its contituents. However, this does not imply institutional preference for the Endowment over the Senior Class gift. That is a decision to be left to each senior...

...article "Council Sidesteps E4D Issue" by Michael Nolan, which appeared on Thursday, December 5, misrepresented my purposes for submitting a proposal to the Council's Administrative Committee suggesting that the Council sever its ties to the Endowment for Divestiture, and my reasons for deciding to withdraw it. Since, Mr. Nolan spent about 20 minutes discussing the issue with me in an interview, I fail to understand why this information was omitted from his aricle...

...members of the Coordinating Committee of the Endowment for Divestiture (E4D), we would like to express our differences with Ms. Klegar and Mr. Keane on one other point. They assert that there is no contradiction-in giving to both funds. We disagree. In believing that contributions to the Harvard College Fund indicate tacit support of the University's current South Africa investment policy, we call upon seniors to examine the merits of the issues involved and to consider denating to Harvard only through the Endowment for Divestiture. We sincerely hope that this money will go towards undergraduate education. The money...
