...Grand Rapids, Mich., 56-year-old Earl Dove battened down his home, and started to move his family into the basement; the next thing he remembers is finding himself on a heap of splintered lumber, 50 ft. from the house. In Goldwater, Mich., a four-inch piece of straw flew like a steel-tipped arrow and imbedded itself in a woman's neck. In Strongsville, Ohio, near Cleveland, a baby was sucked out of a house and hurled to its death-still in its bassinet. The same vacuum pressure pulled the wedding ring from the finger of the baby...

Little in U.S. judicial history comes close to matching the scandal now swirling around the Oklahoma State Supreme Court. Last week Oklahoma's senate scheduled proceedings against Justice Napoleon Bonaparte Johnson, 74, on impeachment charges by the state house of representatives. His colleague, Justice Earl Welch, 73, will escape the same fate only because he recently resigned in the wake of charges that he and Johnson took bribes in exchange for favorable decisions. Meanwhile, a state grand jury has indicted the two justices, both of them Oklahoma Indians. The alleged bribery ringleader is former Chief Justice Nelson S. Corn...

But the Twins had all these sluggers last year, and still finished in sixth place, a living testimony to the maxim that pitching is 75 per cent of baseball. Only Camilo Pascual (15-12) and Jim Kaat (17-11) had decent seasons, and unless Minnesota comes up with another reliable pitcher, they won't be able to finish higher than fifth...

...league in batting in 1962. Boston's pitching staff is named Dick Radatz. The 6-5, 235-pounder is the best relief pitcher in baseball, and he got plenty of opportunity to work last year. Unless hurlers like Bill Monboquette (a 20-game winner in '62), Dave Morehead, and Earl Wilson can better their 1964 performances, Boston could have a disastrous season...
