...party of about fifty Wesleyan students visited East Haddam Wednesday evening. They first stopped at Mrs. Matison's barn, where arrangements had previously been made, and initiated fourteen "freshies," after which they crossed and were well received by some of the town boys, eggs and apples being the chief refreshments. After partaking of a fine spread at the Gilston House they returned home by the five o'clock train.
