...race between Oxford and Cambridge over the tidal course from Putney to Mortlake (4 1-4 miles) is held just before Easter. The college races at Oxford are held towards the end of May; at Cambridge in the beginning of June. ...Easter trip of the baseball nine through the South proved successful, only one game being lost and five won. The defeat was suffered at the hands of the University of Virginia, but was redeemed by Yale's defeating Virginia in the following game. Yale's victory over Brown on Saturday by the score of 6-2 gives increased confidence in the nine. The Freshman baseball nine, however, at present seems rather weak and they have already met with several defeats...

Much interest is shown in the coming debate against Yale. The inter-hall preliminary Yale debate was held shortly before the Easter vacation, upon the question, "Resolved, That the power of the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives is detrimental to public interests." The judges chose to represent Princeton in the final Yale debate R. F. Sterling '97, N. S. Reeves '99, H. H. Yocum '98, and Jay Lee '98 alternate. The speakers are all members of the American Whig Society...
