...goalie mask, but in the end, it was the Bulldogs’ hearts that were broken. The Harvard men’s hockey team defeated Yale (11-17-3), 2-1, Saturday night in a physical Game 2 at the Bright Hockey Center to win its best-of-three ECAC first-round series with a game to spare. Though the Crimson (14-15-2) was robbed on several quality scoring opportunities by Bulldogs backup netminder Matt Modelski, the Harvard defense and senior goaltender Justin Tobe shut down the Yale offense, allowing just one goal for the third time in four...

...minutes and 16 seconds. From that point on, the Crimson took over, with captain Dylan Reese’s natural hat trick erasing an early two-goal deficit en route to a 5-2 Harvard victory at Bright Hockey Center in the first game of the best-of-three ECAC playoff series. “Revenge was definitely a big part of this,” Reese said. “They beat us twice handily, and they’re one of our archrivals.” The tenth-seeded Bulldogs entered the contest without top scorers Sean Backman...

The meet was the final chance for many athletes, like sophomore high jumper Becky Christensen, to guarantee a spot at Nationals. “It’s probably not high enough to go to Nationals,” Christensen said of her 1.78-meter jump, which earned her third place at the meet. Christensen qualified provisionally for NCAAs earlier...

Junior forward Alex Meintel would add a wraparound goal at 15:21 to seal the 5-2 victory, which left the Crimson needing just one more victory in the two remaining games to advance in the ECAC playoffs. “We’re excited,” Donato said of the victory, “But only half the job’s done.” --Staff writer Daniel J.
