Professor Johnston Ross was educated at Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities, at the latter of which he took his Master's degree. After preaching several years in Scotland, he was called to the Presbyterian Church at Bryn Mawr, Pa. He was then for a short time a professor in the Presbyterian Theological College in Montreal, Canada. A year ago he became a professor in the Union Theological Seminary in New York. Professor Goodwin was born at Concord, Mass., May 9, 1831. He received the degree of A.B. from the University in 1851 and later studied at the Universities of Gottingen, Berlin, and Bonn. He received the degree of Ph.D. from Gottingen and LL.D. from Amherst, Cambridge University, Columbia, Edinburgh, Chicago, and Yale.
