...pressure continued to mount, the NCI last January asked the nation's doctors for any data on patients who seemed to have had a beneficial effect from Laetrile. The response was hardly overwhelming. Out of thousands of cancer victims treated with the substance, data were submitted for a total of 93 cases. Only 22 of these cases were submitted with sufficient information and involved patients who had been treated solely with Laetrile during the time of evaluation. Of these, nine stayed the same, seven got worse, and only six showed improvement. In four of the six, tumors shrank more...

When the Fed tightens money, interest rates zoom (up to 10 per cent at present), and people can't afford to borrow money to build or buy housing. Construction workers go on welfare, real estate values skyrocket, and you just get more inflation...

Finally, leadership, which is an historical process of ceaseless interaction between leaders and followers, would result in a "change in leaders' and followers' motives and goals," which in turn would produce "a causal effect on social relations and political institutions" much as the interaction of chemicals changes their composition. The person without followers is not a leader, no matter how stirring his oratory or how right his cause may be, because he does not make a difference; he cannot change how people...
