...stake. It's a position that's earned Lomborg the enmity of the mainstream environmental community - the green website Grist.org once called him "Bjorn Loser" - but he's unshakable. "You give the most to the solutions that do the most good," says Lomborg, who believes that more effort needs to be put on adapting to climate change, rather than simply trying to stop it. "There's definitely a case of hype and one-sidedness on the climate debate...

...Good-Faith Effort? As an ardent reader and fan of your publication, I am finding it hard, even 24 hours later, to close my jaw after reading your story on Tony Blair's faith [June 9]. How dare Michael Elliott refer to "the chattering classes of London'' who think of Blair as smug. I think you'll find this is a common view, echoed from Lands End to John o'Groats, and with very good reason. Blair's ideas detailed in this article bear little difference from much of his work as British Prime Minister; hollow, disingenuous and designed...

...agents don't arrive with their own choppers or bulldozer drivers. And it's risky to hire too many agents too quickly--as the growing number of corruption cases along the border attests. The bottom line is that resources are being pulled out of the border-security effort just as the fence is becoming a reality. That's why at one border-patrol station, agents made a wall calendar whose every page was May--so the National Guard's June departure date would never arrive...

...once labeled conservative Christian leaders "agents of intolerance" sought out their endorsements, only to twirl away once again when he too found himself held accountable for their beliefs. He argued that Obama's 20-year devotion to Wright was weightier than his own transparently cynical effort to co-opt megapastors like John Hagee and Rod Parsley. This is just politics, he winked--I don't have to believe everything they say. But social-conservative leaders will expect their voices to count in a McCain White House; if there is a belief that unites otherwise entropic Evangelicals, it is that...

Committee chairman John Conyers says McClellan's book "suggests that senior White House officials may have obstructed justice and engaged in a cover-up" in the outing of Valerie Plame, the CIA employee whose identity was revealed as part of a White House effort to discredit her husband. What Conyers "suggests," however, may also be misleading. The book adds some new details about Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney's involvement in the Plame outing, but there's nothing there to build a case on. For his part, McClellan says he doesn't have much more to offer...
