Usage:

First, that peace is not something that can be negotiated, because history is not something that can be forgotten. Ehud Barak, Bill Clinton and Yasser Arafat did not reach a "final agreement" because it is impossible for three signatures to numb the memories of decades, centuries, millenia of internecine struggle. Peace can, however, evolve out of stability. Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak announced an indefinite suspension of the peace process Friday after Israel's deadline for the latest cease-fire to take effect was greeted with the worst violence in two weeks. Nine Palestinians were killed and 67 were wounded in clashes throughout the West Bank and Gaza.
