...Hopkins, who did the entire umpiring for the game was utterly incompetent. Two instances of his work are noted. In the eighth inning, with three Harvard men on bases, Upton was given his base on balls, thus forcing in a run. After the game the umpire declared that the man should have been fairly out on strikes.
