With the vast and ponderous machinery of Widener library it seems extremely unfortunate that it is so frequently impossible to obtain books either because they are "lost" or "overdue". It is admittedly difficult to attain perfection in such a large organization, but this can not excuse the high percentage of unsuccessful attempts to procure books...
