...CAMPAIGN to elect an insurgent student slate to the Board of Directors of the Harvard Co-operative Society will end tonight at the Coop's annual meeting at the Cambridge High and Latin School. These students, in mounting the first serious challenge to the Coop's election practices in the society's 86-year history, are seeking to give the Coop a more constructive role in the Boston and Cambridge communities. They deserve to be supported...
...Hoppes want Negroes to have a good life if they are willing to work for it. They do not believe that most blacks display that willingness. "I think we should look into the Negro problem with the Communists," says Sally. "They're being used. Why should we elect a soft President and play into the Communists' hands?" ...American Medical Association has been warring against questionable treatment ever since the group was founded in 1847. Yet the battle is endless and so far from being won that this month the A.M.A. convened what it called a national conference on quackery in Chicago.* The A.M.A.'s president-elect, Manhattan's Dr. Gerald D. The rules eliminate the No. 3 candidate: out goes Curtis LeMay, the Wallace running mate. And enough Southern Democrats follow party...
About the best strategy liberals can follow in this conservative state is to elect a Republican governor. Blacks and browns have excercised little voting power in the past, though in a new coalition with the white liberals here is hope that this can be changed by registration drives and progressive local candidates. This group, the Texas Democratic Coalition, primarily McCarthyite, is setting up a parallel party structure across the state. Other liberals...
