Upon seeing the students, Mrs. Kathleen O. Elliott, dean of the College, telephoned Mrs. Bunting at a conference she was attending in North Carolina on the relevance of higher education. The President said she would return and speak to the group. When the students heard Mrs. Bunting was coming, they decided to stay...

Perennial track power Villanova is favored to successfully defend its IC4A crown. The Jumbos have lost key runners through graduation and the Olympics, but they have competent backup strength in Tom Donnelly, Chris Mason, and Dick Buerkle. Add a tradition of victory and coach Jumbo Elliott's ability to pull out the big ones, and Villanova has to be listed as the team to beat today...

...rarity in the past, the players' acting rapport is a tribute to the skill of Director Gerald Freedman. Philip Bosco's Kent is a beautifully modulated performance with a Gielgud-like delivery of the Shakespearean line. Rene Auberjonois as the Fool is a supple mime of wisdom and Stephen Elliott's Gloucester is a man of probity incarnate, woefully abused. Barbette Tweed's Cordelia is appropriately sweet and good; Patricia Elliott as Regan and Marilyn Lightstone as Goneril are properly serpentine. Only Stacy Keach disappoints, by failing into smirky stage-villain mannerisms as Gloucester's bastard son Edmund. His performance...

Almost all the rest comes from three wholly owned subsidiaries: Elliott Business Machines (20%); Trans-Western Service Industries, a laundry and dry-cleaning chain with 450 outlets in California and the Midwest (15%); and Modulux, which makes relocatable buildings mainly for schools and the military...

Paranoid Profession The stirring of Madison Avenue's social conscience is still tentative and, to say the least, tardy. Appraising his industry's role in the "great moral issue of our time," Ogilvy & Mather Chairman John Elliott Jr. confesses that "our record is not even average. We bring up the rear. That is a hell of a position for people who consider themselves problem solvers, pacesetters and molders of public opinion." It is also a hell of a position for businessmen. Last year, Negroes spent $30 billion on consumer items, or 6% of the national total...
